HOME FINALE: After two straight wins at BC Place, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to face Western Conference adversaries Austin FC on Saturday as they host Fan Appreciation Night in their final home match of the MLS regular season. The ‘Caps will be looking to claim three consecutive wins in MLS play for the first time since August 2021, when they beat Austin away from home and captured home victories against Los Angeles FC and Real Salt Lake.
STAYING ALIVE: Going into the week's MLS action, the Blue and White sit 10th in the West with 40 points, three points outside the playoff places and two regular season games remaining. Ahead of them are ninth placed Seattle Sounders FC with 40 points and ahead on the wins tiebreaker, eighth placed Real Salt Lake with 43 points, seventh placed Minnesota United FC with 45 points and sixth placed Portland Timbers with 46 points.
SCOREBOARD WATCHING: In addition to the match against Austin FC, 'Caps fans will also be watching several other matches this weekend, including simultaneous fixtures on Saturday featuring Minnesota United FC at San Jose Earthquakes, and Real Salt Lake at Los Angeles Galaxy. On Sunday, Seattle Sounders FC will play at Sporting Kansas City. Should Whitecaps FC win, Minnesota and RSL both lose, and Seattle draw or lose, then the 'Caps would control their own playoff destiny going into Decision Day.
