Another year, another batch of FIFA ratings.
This Friday, September 30, EA Sports will release FIFA 23, the annually released football video game featuring the popular game mode FIFA Ultimate Team.
The game mode allows you to create your own dream team of professional players, who receive a base card ranked by a rating anywhere between 47 to 99 rated.
Players can receive anywhere from a bronze (47 to 64 rated), silver (65 to 74 rated) or gold card (75 to 99 rated) depending on their real-life performance in the past year.
To help get you started on FIFA Ultimate Team this year, we look at the top five ‘Caps players on FIFA 23 and their top stats to help kickoff your Ultimate Team.
At number five, FIFA has given wingback/forward Cristian Dájome a 71 rated silver card, which features a nice combination of 82 pace, 72 physical and 71 dribbling.
Those three base card statistics make Dájome's card a tough one to face on the virtual pitch, as the physical allows him to separate from strong defenders when dribbling and making up distance with his pace.
In terms of his more in-depth statistics, the Colombian has also been given 84 stamina and 79 agility, which will allow him to run for plenty of time before running out of steam.
Alternate positions: ST, LW
Up next, forward Lucas Cavallini has received a 71 rated silver card.
The Canadian international's 86 physical makes him the second strongest player in MLS, just two ratings behind CF Montréal's Victor Wanyama. With his high physical, Cavallini can compete for headers in the air with opposing defenders and create more space for himself when dribbling.
Cavallini also possesses the highest shooting stat amongst 'Caps players with 70 shooting on his card.
Alternate position: CF
Coming in at number three is wingback Julian Gressel with a 73 rated silver card, the same rating he had in FIFA 22.
All of the German's base stats on his card are higher than 60, making him a very versatile player in-game by using him as a right wingback, a right winger or a centre midfielder in either an offensive or defensive role.
For his more in-depth statistics, Gressel has been given a four star weak foot, which comes in hand when spreading the ball around the pitch and finishing in the box, as well as 88 stamina, meaning he should be able to put in a shift for the majority of a match.
Alternate positions: RWB, RW
At number two is Paraguayan international midfielder Andrés Cubas, who's received a 74 rated silver card, the highest rating for a silver card in the game.
Despite his 69 pace, Cubas' card has a strong combination of 90 agility, 92 balance and the short/lean body type, meaning he will feel super smooth on the ball and will make up ground quickly to help out defensively with tackles and interceptions.
In fact, the midfielder's 73 defending is the third-highest amongst MLS midfielders in the game.
Cubas also has high attacking and high defending work rates, which allow him to play at his maximum potential on both ends of the pitch.
Alternate position: CM
Rounding off the top five 'Caps players in FIFA 23 and finishing at number one is attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld, who's kept the same 75-rating as he did in FIFA 22.
In terms of most notable base card stats, Gauld has 80 pace, 81 dribbling and 75 passing, a good combination of attributes for a centre-attacking midfielder to create opportunities in the game.
Other in-depth stats include a whopping 91 agility, 91 balance, 78 ball control, 78 vision and 78 curve, which are all very good stats for a 75 rated Gold card.
Gauld’s card also has four-star skill moves along with high attacking and high defending work rates, which make his card a force to be reckoned with.
Alternate positions: LM, CF
In addition to the five highest-rated players, the rest of the 'Caps roster also possess some fun stats that'll be worth trying out in this edition of the game.
Defender Tristan Blackmon is tied for the fourth-highest amount of pace in the game for a centre back with 88, beating out the likes of Wolfsburg's Maxence Lacroix (87 pace) and Real Madrid's Éder Militão (86 pace).
Meanwhile, forward Déiber Caicedo has been given four star skill moves, which allow him to perform advanced skills to beat defenders on the dribble. The Colombian has one of the highest agility ratings of any 'Caps player with 89 and once combined with his 83 pace, can cause plenty of havoc in behind for opponents.
Lastly, forward Brian White, who's been given a plus three upgrade to a 68 rated silver card, has also received four star weak foot. Once strikers in FIFA have high rated weak foots, they can become more prolific in the final third since users of the game won't need to worry about shifting back to the players strong foot to have a shot at goal.
