It's tournament time for top youth teams throughout North America, and two teams from the Whitecaps FC Kootenay Academy will also be taking part. Both U-16 and U-17 girls teams will represent the 'Caps Kootenay Academy at the 2014 AstroTurf Collegiate Showcase tournament at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington this weekend. The teams include players from both the East and West Kootenay Academy Centres.
"Many of our U-17 girls players are looking to gain scholarships, and this is a great opportunity to show the scouts what they can do," said Brett Adams, Whitecaps FC Kootenay Academy head coach. "This is set to be a big test for the girls as some of them will be playing up in older age groups. We have also been placed in top groups. This is going to make it tough for the girls, but it’s a great platform to go out there and test themselves."
