Groups set for 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup

The stage is set.


Canada’s women’s national team will face China PR, New Zealand, and the Netherlands in next year’s 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is being held in six different Canadian cities.


The draw for the Women’s World Cup took place Saturday in Ottawa, with the 24 qualifying teams learning which teams they will face in the group stage.

The top two teams from each group, as well as the four best third-placed teams, will qualify for the Round of 16. See below for Canada’s group stage schedule:


  • June 6 vs. China PR in Edmonton
  • June 11 vs. New Zealand in Edmonton
  • June 15 vs. Netherlands in Montreal


If Canada were to finish first in Group A, they would play their Round of 16 match on June 21 at BC Place in Vancouver against the third-placed team from Group C, D, or E. Canada could also potentially play their Round of 16 match at BC Place if they finish third in Group A.

BC Place will also play host to two Round of 16 matches, one quarter-final match, and the Women’s World Cup Final.

The 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup kicks off on June 6 in Edmonton and culminates with the Women’s World Cup Final on July 5 in Vancouver. The tournament will be broadcast live on CTV, TSN, and RDS.
