VANCOUVER, BC – The EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League, the official high performance partner league of Vancouver Whitecaps FC, are set to kickoff their cup finals this Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 at Coquitlam’s Town Centre Park. The finals will be hosted by Coquitlam Metro-Ford SC and will feature 18 boys and girls teams playing nine matches in five different age divisions.
“It is sure to be an exciting weekend of soccer and we also want to thank Coquitlam Metro-Ford for all the hard work they have put into hosting this event,” said Carlos Grosso, BC Soccer high performance committee hair. “These are some of the top youth players in British Columbia and with the BCSPL being part of the player pathway, and with the BCSPL’s relationship with the CSA and Whitecaps FC, this is a great opportunity to see some of BC and Canada’s up and coming stars.”
The previous two seasons, the League Cup Final matched the team with the most points in phase 1 (February to June) against the team with the most points in phase 2 (September to November). However, for 2014, an enhanced format was created to ensure all teams maintained a player development focus while still having an opportunity to compete throughout the fall and into playoff rounds. This year the league cup final matches were determined by phase two league results followed by a quarter and semi-final match.

In 2013, the BCSPL League Cup Champions went on to face the Washington State High Performance League (RCL) Champions in December. That inaugural event was hosted by Washington and this cross-border special event will continue in 2014 with the BCSPL League Cup Champions hosting the Washington Champions on the weekend of Dec 13 and 14.
