Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Andrés Cubas was named to the MLS Team of the Week on Tuesday for his performance in the 'Caps 1-0 win against Los Angeles FC during Week 18.
The Paraguayan international grabbed his first MLS goal in stunning fashion as he intercepted a pass out of the back from LAFC at the top of the box and fired in the game winner.
The defensive midfielder also recorded a team-high four interceptions, a team-high four tackles, a team-high seven duels won and 84% passing accuracy.
Cubas becomes the second 'Caps player to be named to the Team of the Week twice this season, after previously receiving recognition for his performance in his first MLS start for the 'Caps in the club's 2-0 away win over FC Dallas in Week 15.
The 'Caps are set to host Western Conference side Minnesota United FC this Friday, July 8 at BC Place as they look to continue their fine form in MLS play.
