VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2) will open their 2023 MLS NEXT Pro season on Sunday, March 26 at home to Portland Timbers 2 at Swangard Stadium. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. PT.
The full MLS NEXT Pro schedule will be announced at a later date.
WFC2 enter their second MLS NEXT Pro season, and first under head coach Ricardo Clark. In their inaugural season the side finished in third place in the Pacific Division, and seventh in the Western Conference. WFC2 led MLS NEXT Pro in short-term call-ups to MLS in 2022, while goalkeeper Max Anchor, fullback Ali Ahmed, and striker Simon Becher all signed MLS contracts with the first team this season.
Leading up to the start of the season, WFC2 will play a series of preseason matches, weather dependent. Preseason matches include:Â
- Saturday, March 4 vs. Thompson Rivers University – NSDC South Turf (11 a.m. PT)
- Friday, March 10 vs. Tacoma Defiance – NSDC South Turf (1 p.m. PT)
- Friday, March 17 at Pacific FC – Starlight Stadium (1:30 p.m. PT)*
*Please note, match at Starlight Stadium is not open to the public
Whitecaps FC MLS season ticket members will again receive free access to WFC2 home matches at Swangard Stadium, with information on how to book tickets to be sent in advance of the season. Additional ticket information will be announced in the coming weeks.
