VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 continued preseason with a 2-1 win over fellow MLS NEXT Pro Pacific Division side Tacoma Defiance.
The ‘Caps came out flying in the first half, with Levonte Johnson terrorizing the Defiance down the left flank.
Jay Herdman finally opened the scoring just before halftime, ripping a venomous shot into the bottom corner.
Early in the second, WFC2 made it 2-0 when Lowell Wright tapped in a low cross from Antoine Coupland.
With 15 minutes remaining, Sounders FC first team midfielder Danny Leyva cut into the box and finished for Tacoma to make it 2-1.
The ‘Caps would hold tight the remainder of the match to secure their second 90-minute victory of preseason.
They will wrap-up preseason with one more match at Pacific FC next Friday, March 17 before kicking off the season on Sunday, March 26 at home to Timbers 2 at Swangard Stadium.
