WEEKLY STORYLINES

PUSH TO THE PLAYOFFS: With four games remaining in their 2024 MLS NEXT Pro regular season campaign, Whitecaps FC 2 will look to continue their push to the 2024 MLS NEXT Pro Cup Playoffs this week as they continue their five-game homestand at Swangard Stadium. The young 'Caps are set to take on The Town FC on Sunday in the third meeting of the season between the two sides this season. The Blue and White claimed a 3-1 victory back in June in the first clash of the season, thanks to a brace from Jay Herdman and another goal from Eliot Goldthorp. The Town then recorded a 2-0 win in August. With a win on Sunday, WFC2 would prevent The Town from punching their ticket to the postseason.

FROM WFC2 TO FIRST TEAM: It was a big week for WFC2, as midfielder Jeevan Badwal and forward Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau signed MLS contracts with the first team. Badwal, who has been in the club's academy system since 2019, agreed to an MLS contract as a Homegrown player through 2027, with club options for 2028 and 2029. The product of Surrey, BC became the 26th all-time academy player to sign an MLS contract with the club. Meanwhile, Fleuriau Chateau agreed to an MLS contract through 2025, with club options for 2026 and 2027. The forward currently leads WFC2 in goals with eight, which is tied for the most goals in a single season by a WFC2 player in the MLS NEXT Pro era. With a goal on Sunday, the Canadian would break the record which was previously held by former forward Simon Becher during the club's inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season in 2022.
