Preview: WFC2 travel to California for first away match of the season against LAFC2

VANCOUVER, BC – After an opening day win at Swangard Stadium last weekend, Whitecaps FC 2 are set to hit the road for their first away match of the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season. The young 'Caps will face fellow Western Conference side LAFC2 on Sunday, April 2 at Titan Stadium in Fullerton, California. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT.

Sunday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between the two sides in MLS NEXT Pro.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

FIRST GAME, FIRST WIN: Whitecaps FC 2 began their second MLS NEXT Pro campaign with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers2 last week, thanks to goals from Kamron Habibullah and Antoine Coupland. The pair made their first WFC2 starts and will look to be key components of head coach Ricardo Clark's attack in 2023.

NEW FOE: Saturday's match brings a new foe to the table, as WFC2 play their first-ever match against LAFC2, who are competing in their inaugural MLS NEXT Pro season. The side dropped a 1-0 result to North Texas SC in their home opener last week. In 2022, the young 'Caps found some success on the road, claiming three wins and two shootout victories away from home.
