VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 defender Mihail Gherasimencov has been called up to Moldova's U-19 national team for a training camp from April 17 to 21.
So far in 2023, Gherasimencov has started all three of his appearances for WFC2 during the MLS NEXT Pro regular season, helping the team go unbeaten through those three matches.
Gherasimencov, who turned 18 on March 25, was born in Balti, Moldova before his family moved to Calgary, Alberta in 2016.
The defender played his youth soccer with Calgary Blizzard and originally joined the Whitecaps FC BMO Alberta Academy Centre in Calgary, before being selected to the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy program in Vancouver in 2020.
During the 2022 season, Gherasimencov was selected to the inaugural MLS NEXT All-Star Game featuring the top academy players from across the league.
