A skillful attacking player who grew up playing in the academy of famed Spanish club FC Barcelona, Victor Blasco joined Whitecaps FC 2 for the team's inaugural season on March 25, 2015.
UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2015: Blasco led Whitecaps FC 2 with six assists, in addition to his four goals. The explosive midfielder was named the USL Player of the Week after his performance versus Cascadia rival Seattle Sounders FC 2 on July 4, scoring two goals within 90 seconds after the 89th minute to give WFC2 a 3-1 win.
COLLEGE
2014: In his first and only season at Vancouver Island University, the Spanish winger led the PACWEST conference with 12 goals in 13 appearances, helping VIU qualify for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) national championship tournament. During nationals, Blasco added two goals and one assist as the Mariners finished as runners-up. For his efforts, the midfielder was named PACWEST Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year, as well as being a CCAA All-Canadian and being selected to the CCAA national championship tournament All-Star team.
YOUTH
Born and raised in Spain, Blasco developed at the FC Barcelona Academy until the U-16 level, and with Cornellà and Mallorca U-20 and reserve teams.
INTERESTING FACTS
Blasco moved to Canada from Spain after being scouted by WFC2 head coach Alan Koch during his tenure as head coach at Simon Fraser University.
