Career Summary

PROFILE
Thomas Sanner was selected by Whitecaps FC with the 36th overall pick from Princeton University in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound striker scored 32 goals and 15 assists in his four years playing NCAA Division I soccer. Sanner joined Whitecaps FC 2 in June 2016. He was named USL Player of the Week after registering the team's first-ever hat trick, accomplishing the feat in the last 10 minutes of the 3-1 win over Arizona United SC in August 2016.

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2017: Sanner finished the season second on the team with four goals in his 12 starts and 23 appearances. 2016: Despite joining Whitecaps FC 2 midway through the season, Sanner tied for team-lead with 15 substitute appearances, in addition to his two starts, in the regular season. He scored four goals in his 17 regular season matches. He earned a USL Team of the Week selection following his first professional goal, a late match-winner versus Sacramento Republic FC in Week 18. He followed this up with a USL Player of the Week selection after scoring three goals in the last 10 minutes of the 3-1 comeback win over Arizona United SC in Week 22, recording the first-ever hat trick in WFC2 history. He appeared as a substitute in each of the 'Caps three playoff matches. 

COLLEGE
Over the course of his collegiate career, Sanner started 50 of his 64 appearances with the Tigers, recording 32 goals and 15 assists. During his senior season in 2015, Sanner was unanimously named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year after leading the league with 13 goals and tying for the lead with five assists. Overall, he was fourth in the NCAA in points per game. The native of Indianapolis, Indiana received a number of other accolades in his university career, including First Team All-Ivy League in both 2015 and 2013, as well as NSCAA First Team All-East Region and First Team All-ECAC in 2015. During his freshman season in 2012, he was Ivy League Rookie of the Year.

YOUTH
Prior to college, Sanner attended North Central High School in Indianapolis and was named First Team All-State and All-Region in 2011. At the youth club level, Sanner played for Indiana United Fire Academy.
