PROFILE
Gloire Amanda is a graduate of the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System who returned to the club in 2023 after winning the MAC Hermann trophy as the top NCAA men's soccer player, and then spending time playing professionally in Austria for SK Austria Klagenfurt.
USL
2017: Amanda recorded three goals and two assists in his first professional season, making 11 starts in 27 appearances for Whitecaps FC 2. He was selected to the USL Team of the Week after tallying a goal each at Tulsa Roughnecks FC and against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC in Week 8.
FIRST TEAM
2017: Amanda was called up for the Canadian Championship semifinal series against Montreal Impact but did not feature.
DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
2015-16: Amanda started 22 of 27 regular season matches for Whitecaps FC U-18 Residency, scoring 14 goals. In the playoffs, he added another three goals in five starts and six appearances.* 2014-15: Amanda played with Whitecaps FC U-16 Residency during his first year in the program. He started 15 of his 23 appearances, while his 15 goals were second most on the team.
INTERNATIONAL*
2015: Amanda was called up to Canada U-18 men's national team camp in April for a tournament in Slovakia with games against the host country, China PR, and Austria.
YOUTH/AMATEUR
Prior to joining Whitecaps FC, Amanda spent his entire soccer career playing within his hometown of Edmonton, having started with Edmonton Xtreme FC in 2009. The striker played with Xtreme FC until 2012, before moving to Edmonton Internazionale, where he played for a year. In 2013, Amanda moved to North American Soccer League (NASL) club FC Edmonton and played with the club’s Reserve side until earlier this year. Playing for Team Alberta at the 2013 U-15 Boys All-Stars competition, Gloire led the side in scoring en route to a third-place finish.
PERSONAL
Amanda credits his coach at St. Nicholas, Marko Bossio, as the biggest influence on his career. The young player points to the coach’s ability to push him to his absolute limits as the biggest reason for his growth as a player.
INTERESTING FACTS
Amanda is a fan of English Premier League side Liverpool FC, while his favourite players are Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski and attacking midfielder Thomas Müller. One day, the striker hopes to play at Liverpool’s home, Anfield Stadium. As far as his career goes, Amanda’s goals are to make the first team of Whitecaps FC, play for Liverpool FC, and lead the Canadian national team to the FIFA World Cup. Off the soccer pitch, Amanda enjoys playing tennis.
