Fraser Aird

PROFILE
A versatile Canadian international with experience as a winger and right back, Fraser Aird joined Vancouver Whitecaps FC in January 2016 on a season-long loan, with a transfer option, from Scottish Championship side Rangers FC. Prior to joining Whitecaps FC, Aird spent his entire career with Rangers, contributing 12 goals and 17 assists in 85 first-team appearances.

VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC
2016: Aird started 16 of his 18 regular season appearances in his first MLS season, making his debut in the season opener on March 6. He also started in both of his two appearances in the Amway Canadian Championship. In addition, Aird was the only player to start all four CONCACAF Champions League matches as Whitecaps FC completed a sweep of the group stage.

RANGERS FC
Born in Scarborough, Ontario to Scottish parents, Aird grew up in Canada before signing with the Rangers youth set-up at the age of 16. Within a year of joining the club, Aird made his first-team debut in September 2012 after spending time with the U-17 and U-19 sides. He scored his first goal later that season against Queens Park FC. The following season, Aird was named the club’s Young Player of the Year after recording seven goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances. In total, Aird tallied 12 goals and 17 assists in 85 appearances with the first team.

INTERNATIONAL
Internationally, Aird has three senior caps for Canada, debuting in October 2015 in a 1-1 friendly draw versus Ghana. He made another pair of friendly appearances in October 2016 - recording an assist as a substitute versus Mauritania, then making his first start versus Morocco. He was also called up to the Canadian squad for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and El Salvador. Aird also represented Canada at the U-15 level, and Scotland in the U-17 and U-19 levels before committing to the Canadian senior men’s national team. Aird was a nominee for the 2015 Canadian U-20 Player of the Year award.
