PROFILE
A midfielder from Burnaby, BC, Damiano Pecile previously played with Mountain United FC in the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League before joining the Whitecaps FC Academy in August 2015. He signed to the club's Development Squad in June of 2018, and signed an MLS Homegrown contract on February 14, 2020.
Pecile was loaned to the youth team of Italian Serie B club Venezia FC in June 2021. The loan is through June 2022 and includes an option to purchase.
WHITECAPS FC
'21: Pecile began the season training with the ‘Caps first team and was later loaned out mid-season to the youth team of Italian Serie A side Venezia FC on a deal through June 2022, with an option to purchase.
'20: Pecile made his professional debut late in the 'Caps season finale after spending much of the year with the first team, including the MLS is Back Tournament in Orlando.
DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY
'18-'19: Started 12 of 13 appearances for the U-17s, including three playoff games, scoring two goals. Also made four appearances and three starts for the U-19s. '17-'18: Pecile made 32 appearances and earned 23 starts while registering 18 goals in regular season play for Whitecaps FC U-17. He went on to start all three playoff matches for the club. In addition, Pecile was called up once to Whitecaps FC U-19.
INTERNATIONAL
'19: Helped Canada qualify for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup with a fourth place finish at the Concacaf U-17 Championship.
Pecile made his Canadian youth program debut at 14 years old at an identification camp under coach Ante Jazic. His most recent participation came in 2017 at a U-15 identification camp in Burnaby under coach Rob Gale.
