Brett Levis

PROFILE
A speedy winger-turned-left back who previously excelled with Whitecaps FC U-23 and at the University of Saskatchewan, Brett Levis joined Whitecaps FC 2 for the team's inaugural USL season. Levis then signed an MLS contract with Whitecaps FC on August 23, 2016.

MAJOR LEAGUE SOCCER 
2018: Levis came back from injury to make 13 starts in 14 appearances in his third season on the first team. 2017: Levis sat out the season while recovering from his right knee injury suffered in the previous October. 2016: Levis made his MLS debut in the season finale against Portland Timbers, coming on as a late substitute in the 4-1 win. He sustained an ACL tear on his right knee during the match but stayed on to help the 'Caps hold on to the lead for their sixth Cascadia Cup. Levis underwent successful surgery on the knee on November 8. 

CANADIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
2018: Levis made one start in CC, making his competition debut in the first leg of the semifinal against Montreal Impact.

CONCACAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
2016-17: Levis was one of only two Whitecaps FC players to feature in each match of their four-game sweep of the group stage, starting three of the matches. Against Central FC on August 2, Levis helped set up the 'Caps lone goal for the 1-0 win in Trinidad and Tobago.

PRESEASON AND FRIENDLIES
2016: Levis, then a USL player, participated in the first-team training camp and made two preseason appearances as a substitute. He would make his first-team debut in the international friendly against Crystal Palace FC, recording an assist with a well-placed cross for Kendall Waston's 78th-minute equalizer in the 2-2 draw.

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUE
2017: Levis made four starts in five appearances, recording an assist in the regular season finale. 2016: Levis recorded four goals and two assists in his 24 regular season appearances in his second USL season, most of which came before signing a first-team contract on August 23. Levis' first goal of the year was the match-winner in the 4-3 victory over then top-ranked LA Galaxy in Week 8. In Week 10, Levis earned a bench selection for the USL Team of the Week after scoring WFC2's lone goal in a 1-1 draw against Saint Louis FC, and assisting on the opening goal of the 2-2 draw against Real Monarchs SLC on May 29. His third goal of the season was a last-minute match-winner against Real Monarchs SLC in Week 15. Four weeks later, Levis brought his goal tally to four with the equalizer against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. In postseason play, Levis was one of four Whitecaps FC 2 field players to play every minute of their three-match playoff run. 2015: Levis finished his first professional season with four goals and two assists for Whitecaps FC 2. He earned two USL Team of the Week selections in his 20 appearances – after scoring his first goal versus Arizona United SC on May 31, and after recording a brace in his first start back from a wrist injury versus Austin Aztex on September 20. Levis also tallied a goal and an assist in a 3-2 loss to Orange County Blues FC on June 27.

UNIVERSITY
2014: In his fourth season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, Levis was named a CIS First Team All-Canadian and Canada West First Team All-Star after leading the conference with nine goals while adding eight assists in 11 regular season matches. In the process, Levis helped the Huskies claim their first-ever Canada West Championship with a 4-2 win over the University of Alberta Golden Bears. 2013: Named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian and Canada West First Team All-Star, as well as finalist for the University of Saskatchewan Huskies Athletics E. Kent Phillips Athlete of the Year award, Levis led the team with seven goals and added two assists. 2012: Leading the Huskies with nine goals and six assists, Levis was named a CIS Second Team All-Canadian for the first time, as well as a Canada West First Team All-Star, while becoming a finalist for the E. Kent Phillips Athlete of the Year award. 2011: As a freshman, Levis scored four goals in seven appearances for the Huskies and was named to his first Canada West Second Team All-Star team.

UNITED SOCCER LEAGUES PREMIER DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE
2014: Playing with Whitecaps FC U-23, Levis made 14 appearances, scoring two goals, and getting four assists as the 'Caps finished third in the Northwest Division, winning their first round playoff game 7-2 at Victoria before being eliminated in the second round of the PDL playoffs. 2013: In his first PDL season playing for Victoria Highlanders FC, Levis scored 12 goals and had six assists in 16 appearances. The Highlanders finished first in the Northwest Division and won the Western Conference.

YOUTH/AMATEUR
Levis started his soccer career with the Saskatoon Youth Soccer Club. While in high school playing for the Centennial Chargers, Levis was named the team MVP twice in 2010 and 2011, and the Chargers were the 2010 high school provincial champions. Before joining the University of Saskatchewan, Levis played for the Saskatoon Accelerators of the Canadian Major Indoor Soccer League. Levis also represented Team Saskatchewan at the 2009 Canada Games.

PERSONAL
Levis was born and raised in Saskatoon and graduated from Centennial Secondary School in 2011.

INTERESTING FACTS 
In 2008, Levis was named Male Youth of the Year by the Saskatchewan Soccer Association. During his time at the University of Saskatchewan, Levis was named Athlete of the Week eight times.
