A strong, quick, athletic centre back, Aaron Maund was acquired by Vancouver Whitecaps FC via trade in August 2017 following four-plus seasons with Real Salt Lake.
WHITECAPS FC
2017: After joining Whitecaps FC past the midpoint of the season, Maund made two starts and appearances, making his debut in their August 26 road win at Orlando City SC.
REAL SALT LAKE
2013-17: Maund spent over four years with Real Salt Lake, making 77 appearances and adding three goals across all competitions. After seeing his 2016 season cut short due to a fractured foot, Maund bounced back in 2017, leading all RSL centre backs with 13 MLS appearances, in addition to one goal and team-leading 54 clearances, 34 aerials won, and nine blocks prior to being dealt to Whitecaps FC midseason. He was named the club’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, after earning the starting role early in the season and making an appearance in 21 of the final 22 matches, proving to be a consistent performer in the centre back role.
TORONTO FC
2012: Maund began his MLS career with Toronto FC as their 12th overall selection in the 2012 MLS SuperDraft. He made 11 starts in 21 appearances as a rookie for TFC, including CONCACAF Champions League play.
COLLEGE
2008-11: Maund played four years at Notre Dame, totaling 77 career matches for the Fighting Irish. He was named to the All-Big East Conference First Team as well as the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region First Team following his senior season.
YOUTH
Maund played with youth soccer with FC Greater Boston, where he teamed with Whitecaps FC defender Sheanon Williams to win the U-15 national championship in 2005.
INTERNATIONAL
Born to a Trinidadian father, Maund featured for Trinidad and Tobago at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup. Two years later, Maund represented the United States in the FIFA U-20 World Cup, alongside future WFC teammates Sheanon Williams and Brek Shea.
