VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC was recognized at BC Soccer's 2024 Awards and Hall of Fame induction ceremony in October.
The club was inducted into the BC Soccer Hall of Fame under Organization of Distinction as one of the 11 inductees this year, with sporting director and CEO Axel Schuster receiving the plaque at the event.
In addition, Girls Elite head coach Katie Collar was the recipient of the 2024 Coach of the Year award after winning a third consecutive League1 BC title and a second consecutive League1 Canada Inter-Provincial Championship. She also led the team in the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup, claiming away wins over El Salvadorian side Alianza FC and Panamanian side Santa Fe FC. Most recently, Collar joined Canada's women's national team staff for their camp in October as the group played to a 1-1 draw over reigning FIFA Women's World Cup champions Spain.
Former Whitecaps FC 2 forward and Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy product Emiliano Brienza was also recognized at the event, receiving the 2024 Player of the Year award. With 20 goals in 22 matches, Brienza led Columbus FC to the Vancouver Metro Soccer League Premier Division title and earned the VMSL Golden Boot. Additionally, his performances throughout the season secured him a spot on the VMSL All Star team and the VMSL Player of the Year award.
