WATCH LIVE: 2023 NDC Competition to showcase many of Canada's top girls soccer prospects

VANCOUVER, BC – Who are some of the top young players to watch for the future of Canada’s women’s national team?

The 2023 National Development Centre (NDC) Competition will take place next week from December 4 to 8 in Mississauga, Ontario.

Each program will have two teams, competing in separate divisions. The junior age group will comprise of players born from 2007-2009, while the senior age group will involve players born from 2005-2007.

The competition will pit the best young players from each of Canada Soccer’s NDC programs. This includes Quebec (in partnership with CF Montreal), Ontario, and the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy NDC program in British Columbia, as well as Canada Select squads comprising the top prospects from the rest of Canada. Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy teams are led by director and Canada U-17 national team head coach Emma Humphries, with Katie Collar (Senior Team), Mackenzie Matthews (Junior Team), and Erin McNulty and Esteban Mora as assistant coaches.

With a strong knowledge of Canadian talent across the country through the Whitecaps FC BMO Academy System, the ‘Caps will also be co-delivering the Canada Select teams along with Canada Soccer, comprised of the top prospects from the rest of Canada. Whitecaps FC BMO Academy Centre coaches Tina Cook (Junior Team) and Kristyn Shapka (Senior Team) will lead the squads. They will be assisted by Kirsty Linnett (Junior Team) and Danielle Cyr (Senior Team). The lead director for Canada Selects is Mike Ayyash (Whitecaps FC BMO Academy Centre technical director and and Canada U-20 women’s national team assistant coach).
