Canada Soccer has unveiled the roster for the Women’s U-17 National Team ahead of the U-17 Costa Cálida MIMA Cup 2025, set to take place in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain. Six players from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy have been called up, including Joelle Bader, Torah Betteridge, Lacey Kindel, Bridget Mutipula, and Kylie Sandaluk.
This international tournament, featuring matches against England, Scotland, and Sweden, will be a key part of the team’s preparation for the Concacaf U-17 Women’s Qualifiers in March-April 2025, which act as the qualification pathway to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco later this year.
Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-17 National Team will kick off the MIMA Cup on Thursday, 11 February, against England at 19:00 local time (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT). The team will then face Scotland on Saturday, 13 February, (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT), before closing the tournament against Sweden on Monday, 15 February (13:00 ET / 10:00 PT). All three matches will take place at the Pinatar Arena.
The team will be led by Interim Head Coach Gary Moody, who has been part of the U-17 program since 2021 and brings extensive experience in youth development. Moody's support staff for this camp includes Assistant Coach Tina Cook, Analyst and Technical Assistant Jed Davies, and Goalkeeper and Set-Piece Coach Christopher Cinelli-Faia.
“I’m really looking forward to getting this group of players together from across the country as we begin the next cycle of the U17 Women’s National Team programming. This camp will serve as our first opportunity to access the player pool as we prepare for Concacaf U17 World Cup qualifiers in April.”
- Gary Moody, Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-17 National Team Interim Head Coach
Moody’s 24-player squad features a strong mix of talent from across the country, including six players from CF Montréal, two players from Alberta, six players from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy, and ten players from the NDC Ontario. For many of these players, the U-17 Pinatar Cup will be their first exposure to international competition, a key step in their progression toward higher levels of the game.
