VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance in the 'Caps 2-1 home victory over Austin FC in Matchday 25.
Gauld grabbed his eighth assist across all competitions this season on Sergio Córdova's game winner, equalling the club-record for most assists across all competitions in the club's MLS era with 26.
The Scotsman has now recorded six goals as well as five assists in his last eight appearances, with five of those goals and two assists coming at BC Place. Gauld's performance marked the 10th time in his Whitecaps FC career he's recorded multiple goal contributions in one game.
In addition, Gauld tallied a team-high 19 passes in the final third, five duels, a team-high four chances created, and three tackles on Wednesday night.
Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday a team-high five times this season (Matchday 11, Matchday 14, Matchday 16, Matchday 21, Matchday 25), along with Julian Gressel (Matchday 7, Matchday 16), Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8, Matchday 10), Brian White (Matchday 11, Matchday 16), Ali Ahmed (Matchday 6), Simon Becher (Matchday 5, Matchday 6), Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 4), Andrés Cubas (Matchday 21), and Ranko Veselinović (Matchday 17).
