WEEKLY STORYLINES
'CAPS VS. VERDE: Vancouver Whitecaps FC continue their homestand on Wednesday as they host fellow Western Conference side Austin FC. Earlier this season, Vancouver earned a road draw at Q2 Stadium and have won the two previous meetings at BC Place. Entering MLS Matchday 25, the 'Caps are four points back but have a game in hand on the fifth place Verde and Black, who have three wins and a draw in their last four.
GAULD MINE: Attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld heads into Matchday 25 as one of the most in-form players in the league. The Scotsman has recorded six goals and four assists in his last seven appearances across all competitions, with five of those goals, as well as one assist, coming at BC Place. Gauld, who was named the 'Caps Player of the Month for June presented by GE Appliances, sits second in the Western Conference in both chances created with 46 and key passes with 41.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: The 'Caps homestand continues later in the week as they host an in-form Los Angeles Galaxy side on Saturday. The 'Caps have only dropped one of their last seven meetings against the Galaxy at BC Place, with the previous clash ending in a 3-0 victory for Vancouver. The following week, the Blue and White open up their inaugural Leagues Cup campaign as they take on defending Concacaf Champions Cup winners and LIGA MX side Club León on Friday, July 21.
