VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following his performance in the 'Caps thrilling 2-0 away victory over Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC at Lumen Field on Matchday 10. With the win, the Blue and White moved back to first in the Western Conference, while securing three consecutive away wins in league play for the first time since 2015.
Gauld continued his fine start to the season as he scored his third goal of the season with a left-footed finish in the 58th minute. The goal was Gauld's ninth game-winner in MLS regular season action, equaling the second-most game-winners in the club's MLS era, and he is now tied for the third-most MLS regular season goals in club history with 26.
Gauld also recorded seven passes into the final third, three successful duels, two recoveries, one successful tackle, one interception, one chance created, and 87% passing accuracy.
This is the second time Gauld has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday (Matchday 7). Forward Fafà Picault (Matchday 7), forward Brian White (Matchday 5), midfielder Alessandro Schöpf (Matchday 8), wingback Ali Ahmed (Matchday 4), defender Ranko Veselinović (Matchday 8), and goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8) have also been named to the Team of the Matchday this season.
