WEEKLY STORYLINES

EYES ON CASCADIA: Vancouver Whitecaps FC have won both road matches to start the season and will look to build on that as they visit Cascadia rivals Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday, April 20 at Lumen Field. The 'Caps will get a chance at extending their lead atop the Cascadia Cup standings, having defeated Portland Timbers on March 30 thanks to goals from Ryan Gauld, Fafà Picault, and Ryan Raposo in a 3-2 victory at BC Place. This season, Vancouver will be looking to secure back-to-back Cascadia Cups for the second time in their MLS era, last accomplishing the feat in 2013 and 2014.

BOUNCING BACK: During Vanni Sartini's reign as head coach of Whitecaps FC, the team has instilled a mentality of bouncing back from defeat. After suffering a loss, the 'Caps have gone on to claim at least a point in the following regular season match 19 out of 28 times. With a win on Saturday, and depending on other results, the Blue and White could once again vault up to first in the West. The 'Caps continue to lead the league in goal differential with +6 and sit fourth in goals scored with 15.

WHITE GAULDEN START: Following up on his MVP calibre season in 2023, Ryan Gauld has carried that same form into 2024. The Scotsman, who is looking to become the first player in club history to reach 30+ goals and 30+ assists across all competitions for Whitecaps FC (28 goals, 36 assists), has recorded two goals and two assists in the last four matches. Brian White has also had a positive start to the season, notching five goal contributions (three goals, two assists) in his last four appearances. In addition, White is now two goals away from becoming the club's leading goalscorer in the MLS era, currently sitting at 42 goals across all competitions.
