VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC announced on Friday roster updates for the first team and Whitecaps FC 2 (WFC2).
WFC2 centre back Finn Linder and mifidelder Jay Herdman have been signed to new MLS NEXT Pro contracts through 2024.
The club has also exercised the WFC2 contract option on wingback Mihail Gherasimencov, and declined the options on first team centre back Karifa Yao, as well as WFC2 midfielders Giovanni Aguilar and Malcolm Johnston, and forward Gloire Amanda. Yao will be eligible for the MLS Re-Entry Draft.
Centre backs Lucas Dasovic and Simone Masi, wingback Elage Bah, midfielder Vasco Fry, and forward Joe Hanson are out of contract at the end of the year.
“We are thankful to every player who was a part of our 2023 season,” said Axel Schuster, Whitecaps FC sporting director. “They will always be welcome at our club, and we wish them the best during the next steps in their careers.”
The club continues to be in discussions with centre back Joshué Ndakala and midfielder Antoine Coupland.

Defenders (4): Mihail Gherasimencov, Darko Ilić, Finn Linder, Dembo Saidykhan
Midfielders (3): Jay Herdman, Malek Mehri, Malcolm Simmons
