VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Ranko Veselinović has been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday following his performances in the club's 2-1 home victory over Sporting Kansas City on Matchday 27.
Veselinović tallied four clearances, four successful duels, one block, one interception, one successful tackle, and 92% passing accuracy en route to helping the 'Caps extend their unbeaten streak to six matches across all competitions. Veselinović was also named the club's Player of Quality for the match, presented by GE Appliances.
This is the second time Veselinović has been selected to the Team of the Matchday this season (Matchday 8). In total, eight different players have been named to the Team of the Matchday this season, including attacking midfielder Ryan Gauld (Matchday 7, Matchday 10, Matchday 15, Matchday 17, Matchday 18, Matchday 20, Matchday 24, Matchday 26), forward Brian White (Matchday 5, Matchday 11, Matchday 23, Matchday 26), goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka (Matchday 8, Matchday 24), forward Fafà Picault (Matchday 7), midfielder Alessandro Schöpf (Matchday 8), wingback Ali Ahmed (Matchday 4), defender Mathías Laborda (Matchday 24).
