2024 Whitecaps FC Player of the Year Nominees

Ryan Gauld – Forward

The two-time reigning Whitecaps FC Player of the Year has had an even bigger year in 2024. Selected to the MLS All-Star team for the first time, Gauld recorded a career high 25 MLS regular season goal contributions (10 goals, 15 assists). The Scotsman also scored two goals in the Canadian Championship to help the 'Caps secure a third consecutive Voyageurs Cup. In addition, Gauld's 15 assists became a club-record for most assists in an MLS regular season campaign, surpassing his total of 12 from 2023 and former attacking midfielder Pedro Morales' total of 12 from 2014. Gauld's efforts have not gone unnoticed, as he earned his debut for the Scotland national team in September.

Fafa Picault – Forward

It's been an impressive first season for Fafa Picault in Vancouver. Prior to the playoffs, the Haitian international had a career year, finishing third on the team in goals (10) and tied for second in assists (6). His total of 16 goal contributions also ranked third on the team behind only Ryan Gauld and Brian White. In addition to his efforts for club, Picault has been a key part of the Haitian national team in their quest to qualify for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup.

Ranko Veselinović – Defender

Ranko Veselinović had a strong season leading the backline for Vancouver Whitecaps FC. The Serbian was a constant for head coach Vanni Sartini, making 32 MLS appearances and 31 starts, both the most on the team among outfield players. Veselinović once again led the team in clearances (118), completed passes (1,555), passing accuracy (92.2%), and was third on the team in aerial duels (83). At the offensive end, he added a career high five goal contributions (three goals, two assists) in all competitions.

Brian White – Forward

Brian White had another superb season, becoming the first Whitecaps FC player with back-to-back 15 goal seasons in MLS. In the process, the Flemington, New Jersey native became the club's all-time leading goalscorer in the MLS era when he surpassed Camilo Sanvezzo in April, now sitting at 55 goals, which puts him fifth all-time in goals for the club across all eras. White was also named MLS Player of the Matchday for his hat-trick performance against St. Louis CITY SC on June 29 and finished the regular season as the highest scoring American in league play for the second consecutive season.
