VANCOUVER, BC – After a thrilling penalty shootout win in California on Tuesday, Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to finalize Leagues Cup 2024 group stage play with a first-ever meeting against LIGA MX side Club Tijuana this Saturday, August 3 at BC Place. A win or draw will see the 'Caps punch their ticket to the Round of 32 for the second consecutive season. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. PT. Tickets are still available at www.whitecapsfc.com/tickets.

Saturday's match will mark the first-ever meeting between the 'Caps and the Xolos. It'll also mark the seventh time Vancouver faces a LIGA MX side across all competitions in their MLS era.

EYES ON ROUND OF 32: Vancouver Whitecaps FC will finalize Leagues Cup 2024 group stage play with a first-ever meeting against LIGA MX side Club Tijuana this Saturday, August 3 at BC Place. The Blue and White are coming off a thrilling penalty shootout victory over MLS rivals LAFC at BMO Stadium, which saw the two sides play to a 2-2 draw in regulation. With a win on Saturday against the Xolos (regulation = 3 points or shootout = 2 points), the ‘Caps will finish first in the group and face either Mexican side CF Monterrey in Texas or Pumas UNAM at BC Place. If the 'Caps lose in a shootout (1 point), they'll finish in second place in the group, and host Austin FC at BC Place. In last year's edition of Leagues Cup, the 'Caps went undefeated in regulation against LIGA MX sides by drawing 2-2 with Club León and drawing 1-1 with Tigres UANL in the Round of 32.

FINAL STRETCH: Following their Leagues Cup campaign, the Blue and White will resume their MLS regular season on Saturday, August 24 with yet another meeting against LAFC. Having won three of their last four at home, Vancouver will play six of their remaining 10 regular season matches at BC Place. The 'Caps currently sit fifth in the Western Conference with a 11W-8L-5D record (38 points) and games in hand on several teams around them in the standings. The final stretch of the season will also see the 'Caps face Pacific FC on August 27 at BC Place in the second leg of the TELUS Canadian Championship semifinals, with the squad carrying a 1-0 advantage from the first leg on July 10.
