WEEKLY STORYLINES

HOLD IT DOWN: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to wrap up their busy July stretch this Saturday when they host their 11th annual Pride Celebration against Western Conference foes Houston Dynamo FC. The Blue and White are coming off a 2-1 victory against Sporting Kansas City on Wednesday, which saw them extend their unbeaten streak to six matches across all competitions. Saturday's match will mark the first of two meetings between the two teams this season, with the Dynamo hosting the second meeting at Shell Energy Stadium on September 18. The last time the 'Caps hosted Houston was in May 2023, with Vancouver claiming a dominant 6-2 victory thanks to goals from Pedro Vite, Brian White, Julian Gressel (two goals), Sebastian Berhalter, and Ryan Gauld.

THE PLACE TO BE: Wednesday's match against Sporting Kansas City marked the start of a heavy home stretch for the 'Caps to wrap up their 2024 MLS regular season campaign. Vancouver, having won three straight at home, will play seven of their remaining 11 regular season matches at BC Place. The club will be hosting several Celebration Matches during the stretch, including the Pride Celebration on Saturday, '90s Match on August 24, Next Gen Match on September 7, and 21st Century Match on September 14. Following Saturday's match against Houston, the 'Caps will enter a one-month break from league play to participate in Leagues Cup 2024. The club will also welcome Welsh side Wrexham AFC during the break for a match on July 27 at BC Place.

THE WHITE GAULD SHOW: Brian White and Ryan Gauld have been in scintillating form for the 'Caps in recent weeks. White is up to 12 goals this season, with seven of those coming in the last five MLS matches - the most in the league during that span. White recently scored his 50th goal for Whitecaps FC across all competitions thanks to his brace against St. Louis CITY SC. Meanwhile, Gauld has tallied a goal as well as five assists in his last five appearances. The 2024 MLS All-Star midfielder has recorded 14 goal contributions since Matchday 15, which is tied for the third-most goal contributions in the league in that span, and is also third in the league in key passes with 66.
