CANCHAMP HUNTING: Having claimed a 2-0 road win over FC Dallas on the weekend, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will look to punch their ticket to the Canadian Championship final. The winner of the match will host either CF Montréal or Toronto FC in the final, which is set to take place in July. The match also marks the start of a four-match homestand for the 'Caps, as they look to continue making BC Place a fortress by building on their 5W-1L-2D record across all competitions at home this season.
IN-FORM EL TANQUE: Lucas Cavallini has come up big for the 'Caps in 2022, leading the way as the club's top goalscorer thanks to his five goals this season, with three of those being game winners. Additionally, El Tanque has found the back of the net in his last three appearances with the 'Caps and Canada, while also leading Vancouver in expected goals, shots on goal, shots, aerials won and duels won in MLS play.
FAMILIAR FACES: There will be several familiar faces on York United FC's roster once they take to the field on Wednesday night. York head coach Martin Nash is fifth all-time in appearances for the club and third all-time in assists, having played for Vancouver 86ers and captained the 'Caps. Midfielder Noah Verhoeven came through the Whitecaps FC BMO MLS Academy, defender Dominick Zator previously spent time with Whitecaps FC 2 in the USL Championship, and goalkeeper Nikos Giantsopoulos was on loan with the 'Caps earlier this season as a one-match emergency back-up on the club's trip to Charlotte.
