WEEKLY STORYLINES

THREE-PEAT HUNTING: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to resume their 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship campaign next Tuesday, August 27 with the semifinal second leg in the battle of BC against Pacific FC. The Blue and White hold a 1-0 lead entering the decisive match, with Ryan Gauld notching the game winner in the first leg back on July 10. If the 'Caps defeat Pacific, they'll look to make history in September and lift the Voyageurs Cup for a third consecutive year - a feat only accomplished once in the current format. Dating back to April 16, 2022, Vancouver has tallied a record of 11W-1L-3D against Canadian opposition across all competitions (two of the draws are penalty shootout wins).

CHANGE IN SCHEDULE: The 'Caps were originally set to play LAFC on Saturday, August 24 at BC Place in MLS regular season action. Due to LAFC's progression in Leagues Cup 2024, the match has been rescheduled to Sunday, October 13. Vancouver will resume their regular season campaign on Saturday, August 31 against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium, as they'll look to continue their fine road form this season. Whitecaps FC then return to Vancouver for back-to-back home matches against FC Dallas on September 7 and San Jose Earthquakes on September 14.

BLUE OVER VERDE: The ‘Caps will return to MLS regular season action on Saturday, August 31 with a Texas-sized showdown against Western Conference foes Austin FC. With 10 matches remaining, and six coming in the home comforts of BC Place, the ‘Caps enter Matchday 30 action sitting sixth in the West with a record of 11W-8L-5D (38 points) and two points away from fifth-placed Seattle Sounders FC. Vancouver also holds the fourth joint-best goal differential in the conference with +8. Saturday’s match will mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams and the eighth all-time, with the Blue and White tallying a record of 4W-1L-2D against Los Verdes.
