BACK AT HOME: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to host defending MLS Cup champions New York City FC in their regular season home opener this Saturday, March 5 at BC Place. Last season, the 'Caps posted a league best .830 winning percentage with a 7W-1L-1D record at home, tallying 17 goals in the process.
CHAMPS IN TOWN: The Blue & White will once again come up against one of the top sides in the Eastern Conference this upcoming weekend, as defending MLS Cup champions New York City FC make the trek to BC Place. NYCFC, who opened their season with a 1-0 road loss at LA Galaxy, possess one of the league's most dangerous attacking threats in striker Valentín Castellanos. The 23-year-old Argentine finished the 2021 regular season as the league's leading goalscorer with 19 goals.
BOUNCING BACK: In 2021, the 'Caps showed resilience to bounce back from losses. On five separate occasions following a loss, the team bounced back to secure a win or a draw in their next match, and in three of those five occasions the ‘Caps proceeded to go on unbeaten runs of four or more matches.
