VANCOUVER, BC – All good things come in threes. Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set to host Eastern Conference side CF Montréal this Saturday, March 8 in an all-Canadian clash at BC Place. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. PT. The match will mark the final match for the 'Caps of a four-game homestand, which saw them claim a 2-0 win over Costa Rican side Deportivo Saprissa, defeat defending MLS Cup champions thanks to a 2-1 scoreline, and battle to a 1-1 draw against LIGA MX powerhouse CF Monterrey.

Saturday's match will be the 101st all-time meeting between the 'Caps and a Montréal-based soccer team. It'll also be the 80th meeting against CF Montréal (previously known as Montréal Impact) and the 16th MLS regular season meeting.

WEEKLY STORYLINES

ALLEZ LES 'CAPS: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are one of five teams that remain perfect heading into Week 3 of MLS regular season action. The ‘Caps will look to continue the trend this Saturday in an all-Canadian clash against rivals CF Montréal at BC Place. Vancouver have equalled their best start in MLS since 2018 and a win against Montréal would mark the first time the club has started with three consecutive wins in league play. The last time the Blue and White won three straight league matches was back in September-October 2022. In addition, the 'Caps have won six of their last seven encounters with Montréal at BC Place across all competitions, scoring 18 goals in the process.

GAS ON GAS: It's safe to say it's been gas on gas for the 'Caps to begin the 2025 calendar year. From reporting for preseason to travelling to Spain for camp and then beginning the season in mid-February, it's been a grind. Despite that, it's clear to see the Blue and White have settled into Jesper Sørensen's tactical philosophy quite nicely and it's reaped the benefits as the Dane has posted a record of 3W-1L-1D through his first five matches in charge. Saturday's match against Montréal will mark the 'Caps sixth match in the last 17 days to begin the year. By the end of next week, the team will have played eight matches in a span of 24 days across four countries.

OFFENCE BY COMMITTEE: The start of the season has seen several 'Caps post their name on the scoresheet. Six players have already scored this year with Brian White leading the way with three goals, Sam Adekugbe and Ryan Gauld have each recorded two, while Belal Halbouni, Jayden Nelson, and Pedro Vite have also found the back of the net. Leading the team in assists to start the year is newcomer Nelson with four across all competitions, while Ahmed, Gauld, and Vite have also added a helper each. In MLS play, the 'Caps sit atop some key offensive statistics heading into Matchday 3, leading the league in expected goals (6.13), passing per cent (91.3%), key passess (27), and shots (38).
