TEXAS BOUND/SHUTTING IT DOWN: Vancouver Whitecaps FC are set for their first of three trips to Texas this season as they face fellow Western Conference adversaries Houston Dynamo FC this Saturday, March 12 at PNC Stadium in Houston, Texas. The 'Caps and Houston share the same 0W-1L-1D record as they both look to earn their first win in Week 3 of the 2022 season. The match will also feature a return to a familiar ground for 'Caps assistant coach Ricardo Clark, who spent a total of 11 seasons with the Dynamo across three separate spells during his playing and early coaching career.
CLUTCH DEFENCE: The Blue and White saw plenty of stand-out defensive performances in their 0-0 draw with New York City FC last weekend. Among those was goalkeeper Thomas Hasal, who was named to the MLS Team of the Week for Week 2 after making four saves and capturing his first clean sheet of the season. Defenders Tristan Blackmon, Ranko Veselinović and Florian Jungwirth also came up clutch with big interventions throughout the match to preserve the clean sheet.
BRIAN'S BACK: After missing time due to a right foot contusion, forward Brian White made his first appearance of the season off the bench against New York City and is now fully fit ahead of the 'Caps trip to Houston. White was the club's leading goalscorer in 2021 with 12 goals and finished the season with a combined total of 18 goals plus assists, the third most by a North American player in MLS.
