WEEKLY STORYLINES

CASCADIA REPEAT: It's been quite the week. After winning their third consecutive TELUS Canadian Championship midweek and booking their spot in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs on the weekend, Vancouver Whitecaps FC will look to check off another objective from their list on Wednesday with their final Cascadia rivalry match of the season against Seattle Sounders FC at BC Place. The 'Caps are coming off a 1-1 draw with fellow Cascadia rivals Portland Timbers and could secure back-to-back Cascadia Cups for the first time since 2014 with a win over Seattle. Vancouver currently sit first in the Cascadia Cup standings with eight points and a 2W-1L-2D record. The 'Caps are also unbeaten in their two previous meetings against the Sounders this season, claiming a 2-0 victory back in April and drawing 1-1 in May, with both matches taking place on the road at Lumen Field.

PLAYOFF BOUND: The Blue and White are MLS Cup Playoff bound for the third time in the last four seasons. With still four games remaining in the regular season, every point in the standings counts towards playoff positioning in the Western Conference. The 'Caps currently sit seventh in the West with 47 points and a game in hand on most teams around them. After Wednesday's match, Vancouver will face eighth-placed Minnesota United FC on Saturday, October 5, then host LAFC in their regular season home finale on Sunday, October 13. Vancouver will wrap up the regular season away from home against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, October 19. Only five points separate the 'Caps and second-placed LAFC at 52 points heading into Matchday 36 action.

WHITE ON FIRE: As the 'Caps enter the final weeks of the regular season, forward Brian White will be hoping to break some more records before season's end. The American has been on fire in recent weeks, tying his career-best of 15 regular season goals with his finish against Portland on Saturday and tallying 10 goals in his last nine MLS appearances, which is the most in the league over that span. White is also two away from reaching 70 goal contributions across all competitions for the 'Caps and now sits tied for eighth in club appearances across all competitions in the MLS era with former defender Kendall Waston at 137.
