Pedro Vite called up to Ecuador's men's national team for 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup Qualifiers in September

VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC midfielder Pedro Vite has been called up to Ecuador's men's national team for upcoming CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA Men’s World Cup Qualifiers in September.

The 22-year-old will be joining his national team for a pair of matches. First up, Ecuador face Brazil on Friday, September 6 at Couto Pereira Stadium in Curitiba, Brazil, with kickoff set for 6 p.m. PT.

Vite and his country will then wrap up their international window on Tuesday, September 10 as they host Peru at Estadio Rodrigo Paz Delgado. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. PT. Heading into the two matches, Ecuador sit fifth in the CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying table with a record of 3W-1L-2D.

Vite will miss the 'Caps MLS regular season home match against FC Dallas on Saturday, September 7.

This marks Vite's second call-up to Ecuador’s senior men’s national team, having made his first and only appearance to date on June 20, 2023 by scoring in a 3-1 victory over Costa Rica. The midfielder has also previously represented his country at the U-17 and U-23 levels, scoring three times in 18 appearances, including a goal against Hungary at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

So far this season, Vite has started 24 of his 29 appearances across all competitions for the 'Caps, recording one goal and two assists.

All-time, Vite has made 68 starts and 100 appearances since joining Whitecaps FC in April 2022, adding nine goals as well as nine assists.
