VANCOUVER, BC ā Major League Soccer announced on Monday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC defender Ćdier Ocampo has been named to the MLS Team of Matchday 9 after a 0-0 road draw against St. Louis CITY SC at Energizer Park.
Ocampo helped the 'Caps keep their fifth clean sheet of the MLS season - tied for the league lead - and sixth in all competitions. The Colombian won six duels, had three clearances, and was also active in the attack with three shots and two key passes.
Nine different Whitecaps FC members have now been named to the MLS Team of the Matchday this season. In addition to Ocampo, the 'Caps have also had head coach Jesper SĆørensen (Matchday 4, Matchday 8) defenders Tristan Blackmon (Matchday 4, Matchday 7), MathĆas Laborda (Matchday 3), midfielders Sebastian Berhalter (Matchday 4) and Pedro Vite (Matchday 1), and forwards Jayden Nelson (Matchday 1), Emmanuel Sabbi (Matchday 8), and Brian White (Matchday 2, Matchday 8).
The 'Caps are back in action for a massive home match at BC Place this coming Thursday, April 24 for the first leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup semifinals against Inter Miami CF. Kickoff for that match will be at 7:30 p.m. PT. The 'Caps next MLS home match at BC Place to host Real Salt Lake on Saturday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. PT.
