HEAD COACH MARTIN RENNIE
On the win:
“I’m really happy to get the win. It was hard to prepare for this game with Chivas having a new coach and not knowing how they would play and approach this game. We got off to a bad start and it was a freak goal that spun and dipped and went in the only place it probably could have gone in, but again we showed excellent character to stay composed and fight back. A lot of teams when they lose the first goal of the game they think the game is over but that’s never been the case for us, especially this season, so that’s an encouraging sign.”
On the first half performance:
“I thought as the game went on we improved and the last 15 minutes of the first half we were really on top and at the 44th minute I was wishing halftime wouldn’t come, and then suddenly we got two goals and that obviously turned the game and then in the second half we were very comfortable. We kept good possession and created some good chances and scored another goal from Camilo, who is on fire right now, and linking up so well with Kenny. I think Russell is on top form with his assists as well so that gives us a big threat and in the end we had a chance to score four of five so I’m really pleased.”
On keeping momentum from the weekend’s victory:
“Coming off a big game on Saturday where it was such a lively game with a lot of energy used, sometimes the next game can be a bit flat especially when it comes so soon but we didn’t succumb to that so in the end I thought it was an excellent win, fourth in our last six, so with a few days off we can enjoy those days a lot more after tonight.”
On Russell Teibert’s performances and losing him to the Gold Cup:
“Well I think recently he has been playing fantastic. In the first 20 minutes I thought he was playing a bit below the level he has shown for us in recent games but then he turned that around and at halftime we challenged him for more and he gave us more. I think that’s part of the success for him is playing on the national team and while he’s gone it’s going to be a great opportunity for someone else. There’s no doubt we will miss him while he’s gone but there are some exciting players at this club and when they get their chance they can do similar things so it’s up to them when they get the chance.”
On Jordan Harvey’s recent goalscoring exploits:
“Well I think he is continuing to get into good positions and I think he was also involved in the third goal. He has a great work ethic, fantastically fit, he can go up and down that line all day and we encourage him to get forward.”
On the upcoming break before the next match:
“I think we’ve been waiting for this break and we always looked at the two games against New England and Chivas at home and we always felt we wanted to give everything we could for those two games. Obviously we’re playing well right now but if given the choice of playing on Saturday or having a break, I think the break is good to have some time to prepare for the next run of games. When we come back we have three games in a week. We look forward to that but until Monday we get a little rest.”

On recent success for team and Camilo:
“11 goals in the past 12 games, we’re on fantastic run and it’s a fantastic run of form he’s on [referring to Camilo’s hot streak of scoring goals]. “
On importance of the win:
“We got the three points and most importantly we’re back in a playoff spot and we’re here for the top hat. I thought Camilo was superb and Russell’s got another assist. Long may it continue, he’s been playing extremely well right now.”
MIDFIELDER RUSSELL TEIBERT:
On the 10-day break:
“I’d rather keep playing to be honest, I’m working hard and putting myself in the right places. As a team we’re on a roll…but I’ll take the rest [his chances and the playing time he’s receiving].”
On his crosses being blocked:
“A lot of the defenders I’m coming up against now are blocking that left-footed cross, so I have to look to get to the byline a little bit more. I think I did that a couple of times tonight.”

HEAD COACH JOSE LUIS REAL
On Chivas USA’s first half performance:
“I’m not at all happy because we lost the game in the last five minutes in the first half. We were in good form in the first half but we lost the game in that last five minutes.”
On coming back in the second half:
“The second half for me was different because Vancouver were waiting and maybe we can have more options to score but we had two or three big mistakes in defence and for me that is the worst.”
On losing against Whitecaps FC:
“I think that the most important thing is all the fans, the stadium and the pitch and Vancouver is a very good team.”
STRIKER TRISTAN BOWEN
On losing the match:
“It was a tough game; obviously we wanted to come here and get a result but I thought that there were points in the game where we played really well, but I think there are also some moments where we had some lapses in concentration and Vancouver capitalized on it.”
On his goal:
“The ball got switched over, Carlos was overlapping me which gave the defender a little bit of uncertainty, so I cut inside and I took a shot. I’m not sure if it got deflected but it went over the ‘keeper into the net.”
On why Chivas USA lost:
“To be honest I think we lost the game [as opposed to Whitecaps FC being the better team] and that shows in those last three minutes of the half. I think if those turnovers didn’t happen we would’ve got out of here with at least a point. We dug ourselves a hole and it was too much to get out of.”
GOALKEEPER DAN KENNEDY
On the first half performance:
“I thought we came out and controlled possession and scored the goal, and after that they stepped up their pressure. It gave us a little bit of a problem, but you know I felt like we really lost that game within those three minutes.”
On Vancouver’s home advantage:
“I think that second goal just came off of the energy from the stadium, their guys were flying. That’s part of having home field advantage. The fans are phenomenal here, it’s one of the best supported clubs in the league and it’s nice to play in front of even as an opposing player.”
On the changes at Chivas USA this season:
“We changed our playing style drastically. Tactically, we’re a little better positioned and we’re not so hectic. So now it’s a little more calm and hopefully the transition is smooth. This is a new group to this league. We’ve already had two coaches in a short period of time, so we’re dealing with a transition here. These results don’t weigh us down, I believe there’s a lot of positives we can take from this game from the run of play; it’s just about us having a quick learning curve with the new coaching staff.”
MIDFIELDER CARLOS ALVAREZ:
On Chivas USA’s new head coach Jose Luis Real:
“He’s a good coach obviously, that’s why he’s here. We’ve just been working hard under him for the last four or five days. We got one more in the back, the team needs to work on understanding his philosophy so we can move forward. We just need to keep working.”
On the end of the first half:
“We definitely could’ve left the first half 1-0. But we had a little collapse with mistakes in the back as a group, we just need to get better as a team.”
On the team’s efforts to come back in the second half:
“It was really difficult to recover from the two quick goals, you come in the locker room and take a breather, we got nipped in the bud when we got a goal scored on us again and we just dropped. Coach just told us to keep working, keep our heads up as there’s still 45 minutes to play and believe in your teammates.”
