‘Caps in the Community Matchday Partner – Hope and Health
The Hope and Health movement is a shared initiative between Vancouver Island-based Kw’umut Lelum and Lalum’utul' Smun’eem Child and Family Service Agencies and aims to inspire active living and personal leadership amongst children and youth in foster care through the beautiful game of soccer.
This year’s annual event, held in partnership with Vancouver Whitecaps FC, brought together more than 1,000 Aboriginal youth to play soccer while incorporating the theme of Nautsa’mawt: Oneness; working together with one mind, one heart.
Gently-used boots will be collected at ‘Caps Kickoff from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT. In exchange for old soccer boots, all fans that donate will receive 40 per cent off their new pair of adidas boots when shopping online at shopadidas.ca.
Donors will also receive entry into a raffle to win one of four pairs of boots autographed by Pedro Morales, Russell Teibert, Darren Mattocks, and David Ousted. The four raffle winners will be awarded their prizes in their seats during the match. All donated items will help support the VI Coast Salish Hope and Health benefitting the Vancouver Island Coast Salish community
‘Caps Kickoff
Come out to ‘Caps Kickoff from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. PT at Terry Fox Plaza and get excited about the match. ‘Caps fans of all ages are invited to show their support for the Blue and White at this fun community event.
Be sure to visit Bell Media at ‘Caps Kickoff, as TEAM Radio will be live at Terry Fox Plaza to broadcast their pre-match show.
To get your ‘Caps spirit going, the Comic Soccer players featuring Sammy Soccer on stilts and Freddy Futball will be roaming the grounds at ‘Caps Kickoff to deliver laughs for Whitecaps FC fans.
Bell Fan Zone
Be sure to visit the Bell Fan Zone from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. PT for your chance to meet and receive an autograph from a Whitecaps FC player! While you are at the Bell Fan Zone, you can also show off your Whitecaps FC pride by getting your face painted, colouring your own unique Whitecaps FC scarf, and scoring goals against the opposition as your favourite Whitecaps FC players in EA SPORTS FIFA 14.
