VANCOUVER, BC – It is Fan Appreciation Day at Thunderbird Stadium as Whitecaps FC 2 (8W-13L-6D) wrap up their inaugural USL season when they host Austin Aztex (9W-15L-3D) on Sunday. Kickoff is at 3 p.m. and tickets are available here or at the door.
The team has some fun things in store for their fans including game-worn jerseys and fun giveaways. As usual, there will also be live music, food trucks, bubble soccer, and face painting as the club sends summer off in style. On the pitch, here are what fans can look forward to.
SEASON FINALE
Stars were born on the Thunderbird Stadium pitch this season.
Victor Blascointroduced himself to the club with his crafty playmaking on the left side. First-teamers Caleb Clarkeand Marco Bustoshave been dynamite with their finishes, giving fans a glimpse of the club's future. When healthy, Brett Levis has been aggressive and productive. In the back, Jackson Farmerand Sahil Sandhu have been steady and imposing as of late.
It will be interesting to see if they can put together one more show for the fans and end the year with some fireworks.
NEXT ATTRACTION
17-year old Kadin Chung(right) checked in for his professional debut and electrified the crowd when he split through a pair of defenders with his speed and footwork in last week's match. His fellow Residency product Thomas Gardnerdid well himself, holding his own against more experienced opponents.
Look to see more of that as Koch continues to integrate the dynamic pair into the team. Fans could be seeing the club's future in the two.
WILD, WILD WEST
The last time WFC2 faced the Aztex, they made history. On April 2, the 'Caps captured their first-ever win, as Clarke, Craig Nitti and Billy Schuler found the net in the 3-0 win at House Park. Clarke's goal was the first for the season for Whitecaps FC 2.
The Aztex are out for revenge and will look to end their season on a winning note. Kris Tyrpak and Trevin Caesar lead the attack with eight and nine goals, respectively. Tony Rocha is also dangerous win the ball and in space, and has recorded a team-high three assists.
