Roberts, Ahern, power through for 2-1 'Caps win
NORTH VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC continued their League1 BC women's campaign with a 2-1 victory against Altitude FC on Kinsmen Field this Sunday afternoon.
The 'Caps started the first half by opening the scoring early on. After some footwork done on the left side of the midfield from Jeneva Hernandez Gray, her pass found Ashley Roberts inside the box, with her strike making it 1-0 inside the 12th minute of the match.
As the first half progressed, Whitecaps FC would double their lead after team captain Olivia Ahern put in a ball on the right side of the field which found the back of the net in the 28th minute.
The second half would start with an opportunity from Altitude FC, as winger Alexandra Hughes-Goyette found herself on a one on one situation, but her shot went wide off the far post in the 47th minute.
Moments later, the Blue & White found an opportunity in the final third, as Altitude FC goalkeeper Kelsey Fisher made a strong save off a Sienna Gibson chance in the 53rd minute.
The 'Caps continued to push as they built off a quick counter attack later on. Anna Hauer's ball struck the crossbar, nearly cushioning her squad's lead in the 66th minute.
In the 71st minute Altitude FC cut the deficit to 2-1 on a goal from Hughes-Goyette.
The home side looked to find the equalizer in the late stages, but the young 'Caps resilient defence fended off opportunities as the final whistle blew.

Sangha hat-trick propels 'Caps to 3-0 win
NORTH VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC finished the second match of their League1 BC men's season finding their first victory with a 3-0 result against Altitude FC on Kinsmen Field.
The first half started quickly for the young 'Caps, as Gurman Sangha's solo effort led to him cutting the ball inside the box, his strike then found the back of the net in the second minute of the match.
Altitude FC forward Massud Habibullah found an opportunity moments later in the eighth minute of the match, as his shot was strongly held off by 'Caps goalkeeper Marshall Herald.
Moments later, the 'Caps had a quick counter attack build up on the left side of the field, as Eric Kim's ball found Sangha, and the forward picking up a brace in the 11th minute of the match.
Right before halftime, Altitude FC had a strong opportunity, with forward Sairoob Sairoob connecting a pass to Mladen Ljumovic, his shot struck the right post in the 42nd minute.
The second half started with end to end action and both sides shared their moments in the final third.
The home side looked to find their first goal of the match, as Rafael De Oliveira's free kick opportunity found fullback Brandon Bangambee, who's header went wide in the 74th minute.
As the match progressed, the 'Caps were awarded a penalty kick as Sangha was taken down inside the box. The forward converted from the spot and completed his hat trick in the 83rd minute of the match.
