MLS NEXT Pro announced today that Whitecaps FC 2's match against LAFC2 on June 22 has been declared a forfeit due to LAFC2 fielding an ineligible player. In addition, LAFC2 has been issued an undisclosed fine.Â
A player who was scheduled to serve a one-match suspension for yellow card accumulation competed in the match against Whitecaps FC 2, resulting in the forfeit.
Per League rules, Whitecaps FC 2 has been awarded a 1-0 win and will receive three points in the standings (8-5-3, 29 points). The match will be recorded as a loss for LAFC2 (1-8-4, 7 points).
