Vancouver Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Nahla from Canada SCORES as Kid Captain of the club's home match against Seattle Sounders FC at BC Place on November 7.
Nahla joined the Canada SCORES after school program at Ecole Qayqayt. The unique blend of soccer, poetry and community service has helped Nahla gain many valuable skills over the past two years. She has shown an outstanding improvement in her confidence and social skills through developing friendships in the program. She has also started to develop leadership skills and always gives maximum effort on the soccer field.
In the fall, Nahla wrote a beautiful poem and performed it at the Red Carpet Poetry Slam. Her poem about allyship was chosen among five other Canada SCORES poet-athletes to perform at the SCORES Network Poetry Slam.
