Vancouver Whitecaps FC are honoured to have Alexander Gomez as Kid Captain of the club's 2022 home opener against New York City FC at BC Place on March 5.
Alex is an avid soccer fan who dreams of playing professionally. At the age of 14, he suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, but thanks to the quick response of the Surrey Parks and Recreation staff on hand, and the medical team at BC Children's Hospital, he beat the odds to survive. Now, at 17, Alex is playing soccer again at Premier Soccer Academy, and working hard towards a professional career.
