VANCOUVER, BC – First Canada, now Concacaf.
The confederation announced on Wednesday that Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite Academy will represent Canada at the inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup, featuring the best professional sides in the region - the equivalent of the men's tournament that the 'Caps MLS side has qualified for the last two years.Â
Whitecaps FC Girls Elite qualified as defending League1 Canada Inter-Provincial champions. They will start in the preliminary round between August 13 to 15 with a one-match knockout against a club from El Salvador. Match details will be announced in the coming weeks.
The winner will move on to the group stage, set to be played between August through October. The group stage will consist of two groups of five clubs. Each club will play four matches, two at home and two away. Â
The top two teams in each group will advance to the final round in May 2025, consisting of two semifinals and final at a central location. Â
The official draw for the group stage will take place on June 6.
