BC Soccer announced that eight players from the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Girls Elite program have been named to the Team BC roster for the upcoming Canada Summer Games. The Whitecaps FC Girls Elite program is run in partnership with BC Soccer and is a Canada Soccer National Development Centre (NDC).
All eight players were part of the 'Caps recent League1 BC Finals championship team, including Jeneva Hernandez-Gray, Joy Kimwemwe, Clare Logan, Iba Oching, Jaime Perrault, Ashley Roberts, Noelle Sather, and Emma Yee.
Team BC are in Group A alongside Quebec, needing to get past the Eastern side over two games to advance to the semifinal round. They will play their first match on Tuesday, August 16, and the second match on Thursday, August 18.
Coaching the female team will be BC Soccer’s Female Development Lead Chelsey Hannesson, supported by former Provincial Program player and member of the 2021 female mentorship program, Camila Gomez of TSS Rovers FC.
