VANCOUVER, BC – This weekend marks the conclusion of the inaugural season of the EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) with nine games taking place at three venues in the Lower Mainland. The 2012 EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League Cup finals will feature finals hosted by Surrey United SC, Coquitlam Metro-Ford and Mountain United FC.
All 18 clubs earned the right as being either the first placed team in phase 1 of 2012 league play or the first placed team in phase 2 of 2012 league play. If the same team finished first in both phases of play, the second placed team in phase 2 was awarded the spot. The phase 1 winner was designated the host club in these League Cup final matches.
“This weekend marks the culmination of what has been a very positive inaugural season for the league,” stated David Haber, president, EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League. “These League Cup final games will provide another great opportunity for the clubs and their players to showcase their talents.”
“It’s been very pleasing to see the quality of play throughout the inaugural BCSPL season,” added Dan Lenarduzzi, Whitecaps FC director of soccer development. “A number of players who’ve come through the league have already joined our Residency and Girls Elite programs and we look forward to many more to come.”
The action starts Saturday morning at Cloverdale Athletic Park in Surrey with two boy’s final games kicking off at 10am, Surrey United SC vs. Mountain United FC U-13s and Surrey United SC vs. South Fraser FC U-14s. These will be followed by the U-15 boy’s final with Surrey United SC taking on Fusion FC.
There are four finals games Saturday at Town Centre East in Coquitlam with two boys finals, U-16 and U-17, and two girls finals, U-13 and U-14. The finals conclude Sunday evening with two final games, girls U-15 and U-16 at Burnaby Lake West.
Whitecaps FC and BC Soccer coaching staff and representatives will be present at each game assiting with medal and trophy presentations.

About the BCSPL
The EA SPORTS BC Soccer Premier League will support player development through increased competition for top soccer athletes. Eight founding franchises in regions representing more than 80 per cent of the BC population were announced February 17, 2011. In the fall of 2011, a "mini-season" took place from September through November to prepare for the full season commencing in February 2012. The league features divisions in the U13 through U18 levels. Competition is from February through November each year.
