GROUP A STANDINGS
1. Mexico (4W-0L-0D): 12 points
2. Honduras (1W-2L-1D): 4 points
3. Canada (1W-2L-1D): 4 points
4. El Salvador (0W-2L-2D): 2 points
Canada is currently tied with Honduras for second place with four points in Group A. Mexico, the only remaining undefeated side among the 12 CONCACAF nations in the competition, leads the pack with 12 points, while El Salvador rounds out the group with two points.
De Jong and Edgar, both 29, have combined for 82 caps for Canada, and have each scored three goals in senior international competition. De Jong has started each of the four group stage matches in the current round of World Cup Qualifying, while Edgar has made one substitute appearance, contributing to the clean sheet in the 0-0 road draw versus El Salvador on November 17.
The group stage concludes with four matches in September - the two Canada fixtures, as well as Mexico's visit to Estadio Cuscatlán in El Salvador on September 2, and the Mexicans' home match versus Honduras at Estadio Azteca four days later. Two nations from each of three groups will advance to the CONCACAF Final Round, otherwise known as the "Hex".
Whitecaps FC are back in MLS action on Saturday when they visit LA Galaxy at StubHub Center. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. Watch the match live on TSN1.
