Cyprian Kachwele called up to Tanzania's men's national team for 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

VANCOUVER, BC – Whitecaps FC 2 striker Cyprian Kachwele has been called up to Tanzania men's national team for a pair of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches.

This will be the first round of qualifiers for the tournament, with Tanzania placed in Group H alongside DR Congo, Ethiopia, and Guinea.

Tanzania are set to open up group play against Ethiopia on Wednesday, September 4 at Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Kickoff is set for 9 a.m. PT.

The Taifa Stars will then play Guinea on Tuesday, September 10 at Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro, Côte d'Ivoire, with kickoff scheduled for 9 a.m. PT.

Kachwele, 19, will be looking to make his senior international debut with Tanzania. During his first season with WFC2, the forward has tallied four goals as well as one assist in 17 appearances in MLS NEXT Pro action, while also making three appearances for the first team in MLS regular season and Canadian Championship play. The product of Azam FC was originally acquired by Whitecaps FC 2 in August 2023.
